Become an Egg Donor

Donating your eggs

Donating your eggs to someone in need is a unique, selfless act that gives hope to the thousands of women unable to conceive naturally. Find out more about what egg donation involves and if it’s something you can offer.

What is egg donation?

Egg donation is when a woman goes through part of the IVF process to have her eggs collected, which she can then donate to someone else’s fertility treatment.

Sometimes, women donate to someone they know, such as a family member who cannot use her eggs.

However, most women donate their eggs to help intended parents who want a child to complete their family.

Why do some women use donated eggs in treatment?

A woman might be unable to use her eggs for many reasons, including if she’s had cancer treatment, gone through menopause, or her children are at risk of inheriting a severe genetic disease.

She can use donated eggs to use her partner’s sperm (if she has one) and experience pregnancy.

Who can donate their eggs?

As per North Cyprus Ministry of Health IVF regulations, here are some requirements to qualify as an egg donor:

  • Donors should be aged between 20-35.
  • Donations should be made anonymously.
  • Donors must pass all required blood tests, ultrasound scans and genetic testing to ensure they have sufficient ovarian reserves and are free of infectious and genetic diseases.
  • Donors should have a healthy lifestyle and be able to provide health information on their parents, their siblings, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Any inheritable diseases in the family should be explained to the clinic.
  • BMI (Body Mass Index) should be a maximum of 30.
